Stop auto insurance companies from using Credit Scores as a basis for insurance rates
This petition is addressed to Any major auto insurance company (Geiko, Progressive, Esurance, etc.)Eligible Signatories: All tired of being screwed by auto insurance companies (If this field is left blank it is implied that all free people of this universe are eligible)
I know I'm not the only person tired of having my auto insurance rate based on my credit score. For years the government has allowed insurance companies to use our credit scores as a basis for car insurance. Not only is this insulting (even for someone like myself who has fairly good credit) but it has no basis in the auto insurance realm. Auto insurance should be based primarily on driving record, not excluding tickets removed by those with the money to do so, and on the type of car you drive.
Whether you are a good driver or not auto insurance companies charge poorer people more. If you've made some mistakes with money, or even recently purchased a home your auto insurance will go up because of the effect it has on your credit score. However those who have lots of money to spare get rewarded even when traffic violations are made they simply "clear" their record while insurance companies turn a blind eye.
This is a petition to stop auto insurance companies from using Credit Scores as a basis for insurance rates as credit scores hold no bearing on what type of driver a person is.
