We have the Gold Star Mothers license plates in New Hampshire. The mothers that are eligible include those military personnel that have died not only in combat, but those from training exercises too. |

I am also a Gold Star mother; as your son was active duty at the time of his untimely death, you most certainly should have the Gold Star Mother plate! |

It is heinous that this Gold Star Mother is being denied Gold Star License plates. Her son willing signed up and began his service to our country. He did that while we are at war. It takes a special kind of hero that is willing to sacrifice his safety and future for us. |

I am a Gold Star Mother and yes, my son was killed in active duty in Iraq. What saddens me reading all of these is that I was born & raised in Ohio and used to be proud of that. After seeing the way she's been treated over these I will have to re-think how proud I am to be from Ohio. Yes, my son was KIA but her son signed the same oath my son signed and he was running laps to prepare for active duty so what's the diffence? He died for OUR country. Did you think he was training for the Olympics?? Common sense ~ whatever happened to that? Lisa deserves a Gold Star Mother license plate just like the rest of us who have lost our children in this so called "war" whether it be overseas or right here in the "Good Ole' USA"!!!! Give her what she is due. Wasn't it bad enough she had to bury her son just like we did? Something is TERRIBLY wrong with this picture!!!!! |

The level of insensitivity that elected officials can have never ceases to amaze me but the local Government in the State of Ohio has raised the bar once again and should hang their heads in shame because of it. |

A state should not be able to change the defination of the requirements to be recognized as a Gold Star Mother. The national charter says it's for any soldier that dies while our country is at war. |

Your pain is no less than any Gold Star Parent. Our children died doing what most politicians would never even consider. Your son laid his life on the line for his country and he unfortunately died. you deserve your gold star plates. HUGS from the gold star family of Anthony M. Bradshaw KIA 05/06/07 |

I AM A GOLD STAR MOTHER! My son died in Iraq but that doesn't mean that he was any better than Lisa's son! It is a time of war and her son was training to do his duty for our Country! Please support the mothers, fathers and families that have lost a child who joined the Armed Services willingly to serve our Great Country, the United States of America! |

(rest of my comment) He lost his life training to be activated into a combat zone; is this not the same cause? Our State Government of Ohio returns the favor by spitting in their honor? That’s disgusting and the state should be ashamed of a bill so poorly worded and the Government should fit the bill so that all who lose their lives for The Government is properly honored as deserved. |

The bill should be modified. If a man/woman takes an oath to serve the United States military and they make the ultimate sacrifice, as well as does the family who lost the individual, for the military, the United States, and all of its citizens the least we can do honor them. It’s one thing to word it so that everyone may not obtain a gold star – the premise of the wording is understandable in the sense that it would be unfitting for every single military personnel to receive such an award for death out of military (in the military but dies outside of the compounds or for a cause in which was not of the country or the oath) but in the case of Joshua Rolfe and I am sure other families who are facing the same trial – this is wrong. Joshua died in basic training, while running, while “training for combat”. He died in the military, for the military, and for the Government. What makes the difference that he was not in a combat zone? He lost his life training to be activated into a combat zone; |

It shouldnt be a matter of going over and fighting its the SIMPLE fact that you took on the resposiblity to serve your country in hopes of one day going to fight four our freedom. There should be no other circumstances beyond that fact. Would you deny the soldiers of fort hood? If "No" then why would you deny Mrs. Grandominico |

The loss of a child is unimaginable....anything AT ALL that can be done to help a grieving parent SHOULD be done. Her pride for her fallen child MUST be honored -- a "small" thing like a visible car tag is HUGE to those who want to show pride in AMERICA as well as their child's service. DO THIS, please!!! |

My nephew was willing to put his life on the line for his country in a time of war. Just because he didn't die in a "combat zone" does NOT make his sacrifice LESS WORTHY. These wonderful kids are who they are because of their parents! Please honor them as well |

Lisa Grandominico is a Gold Star Mom just as I am. Her son signed his name on the line and pledged to give his all, up to and including his life. Just because he did not die in a combat situation make Lisa no less a Gold Star Mom. She should be entitled to a Gold Star License plate just as the rest of us are who have buried sons and daughters who signed their names on the line, just as Lisa's son did. |
